Hi Tom,
thanks for your question. At PathMotion we believe each person is different and that's not specifically age and past experiences that would define the current role and responsibilities. Taking the example of Alexandre who started with us as a self-taught young business developer, but performing as one of our best assets in France.
Obviously, this is often the case that age and experience drive people under different responsibilities compared to a junior or a graduated candidate, but this is not systematic. One thing that matters a lot is also the fit with the company culture and values, which associated with each profile background will contribute to the positive impact into the global company mission.
What about your own point of view Tom, based on your own experience, regarding that potential correlation?

I think it's a fascinating debate that is only going to get louder due to evolving generational differences. In my own experience, I've been the youngest in the room at every level and role. Bar the odd element of animosity, this has actually helped me overachieve further as expectations have been lower.
But at the same time, the older I get the more I value my own experience and advise people I mentor to slow down and value experience.
One book I read on the topic i liked was called "Rookie Smarts" which suggests a lack of experience promotes more humility and willingness to ask for help, which in turn promotes other positive skills such as collaboration. I think it probably depends on how the individual reacts to having a lack of experience, but at the same time companies need to take the risk to find out.
