Hi there,
Great question! I think the qualities you need to excel would somewhat depend on your role, but there are definitely some universal qualities that apply to any.
I think one of the most important is to be adaptable as your role is likely to evolve – both as you learn and grow, and in response to shifts in organisational structure. Change is inevitable, so being able to flexibly respond is a great asset. Feedback, failure, and setbacks are equally as likely, so being able to adapt your way of working is necessary – at the same time as providing valuable learning opportunities.
A second quality is to be a good communicator! Being able to work across teams and collaborate across projects are a skill and being able to do so means getting across your points clearly.
Finally, a positive attitude is important for many reasons; it helps you view challenges as opportunities, encourages you to take initiative and has the added benefit of creating a happy working environment.
What qualities do you consider to be important to excel?
